11/10/2021Doug Bolgiano This permit was originally issued 16 years ago. The permit holder has been granted several extensions for completion since then. The permit holder has also put in a transfer amendment for the project because the original water source ran dry. The permit allows for open storage of ground water in a pond. While the project as conceived may have been appropriate the permit was issued, I question whether it is appropriate now. The permit holder has an active agricultural operation going on the property (hemp). Is ground water use being monitored as called for in the permit? The storage of water in an open pond is terribly inefficient. A closed storage tank makes a lot more sense given our extended drought conditions.
